E-services as a valuable tool to foster better interaction in the Republic of Kosovo

Session

Information Systems and Security

Description

Information Systems (IS) and the Internet have influenced the way processes are implemented and thus changed the way things are done. As such, nowadays, the obstacles related to the interaction between local government institutions and their citizens have been overcome through establishment and implementation of e-services as a tool to interact and to accomplish different tasks. The main purpose of this research was to investigate the use of e-services within these institutions, with emphasis on interactions: government-to-citizens, government-to-businesses and vice-versa, through creation of e-kiosk as a way to ease access to civil status documents. In order to accomplish this research, the academic literature was consulted. In addition, the authors used case study methodology, where five municipalities were randomly chosen from different regions of Kosovo, through which it was expected to create a clear picture on how the implementation of e-Kiosk influenced simultaneously, the work of civil servants and the citizens.
