An Integration Approach for Sustainable Urban Dynamics Management Indicators

Session

Architecture and Spatial Planning

Description

This paper discusses urban changing aspects with focus on sustainability issues. The sustainable urban dynamics require measurement approaches in order to design, plan, organise, monitor and control the related developments. In this respect, planners and decision makers need more sight, more authorisation and information that is more proper. They need indicators for signification of the impact of their decision. Indicators are measurable variables used as a representation of a related not-measured or non-measurable influence or magnitude of and impact. The importance of principles for indicator identification and selecting presented in the literature review, while the results represent an indicator integration approach. The successful decision process for valuation of various urban investment projects and programs depend on the accuracy of selecting, integrating and measuring related indicators. The research addresses the importance of development of a reasonable approach for identification and integration of urban management indicators. The empirical evidence shows the existence of a great number of departments, institutions, and agencies carrying out research in the field of urban management indicators. However, there is no clear methodology for integration of urban dynamics management indicators. Accordingly, this paper suggests a systematic approach for integrating urban dynamics management indicators.
