Mapping of Geothermal Features in Region of Ferizaj-Kosovo

Session

Civil Engineering, Infrastructure and Environment

Description

With advances technologies mapping of geothermal features is becoming an important alternative to conventional methods. As geothermal energy continues to be a source of safe, reliable and renewable source of energy world over, these studies are common for geothermal exploration. For our study we used thermal imager camera to measure the temperature of different thermal manifestations from the ground surface on region of Ferizaj. The difference between the measurements is significant; the temperature measurements are done at 20-30 cm above ground with the thermal camera. So the temperature difference between the locations ranges from 6.2-9.0°C. Using this technique we documented the temperatures in 10 locations to include surface ground temperatures, system coordinates, air temperatures and above sea levels. The objective of the study was to characterize the geothermal features for further focused geothermal exploration studies.
