Description

Aim: The purpose of the paper is to explore the various psychological techniques used to motivate soccer players including methods such as goal setting, imagery, relaxation techniques, and self-talk. Methods: The paper is a literature review. The collection of literature was carried out using searches in scientific databases such as Google Scholar, ResearchGate, and Scopus. The search was conducted in English, including specific terms such as: "goal setting", "imagery", "relaxation techniques", "self-talk" and similar. The research includes an in-depth analysis and a reasoned interpretation of the selected literature by APA style standards. Results: Research indicates that soccer players who use psychological skills training techniques such as goal setting, imagery, and self-talk have shown better performance than those who have not applied such practices. Studies consider self-confidence, burnout syndrome, resilience, anxiety control, and concentration, in addition to stress and motivation, as important psychological aspects that need to be developed to improve performance. Conclusion: Effective psychological techniques, including goal setting, imagery and visualization, relaxation techniques, and positive self-talk have been shown to improve athletic performance significantly. These methods help soccer players maintain focus, reduce anxiety, and build mental strength contributing to improved performance in both training and competition.
