The impact of technology in teaching and learning process of higher education

Session

Computer Science and Communication Engineering

Description

For more than two decades, the Albanian society is undergoing a radical socio economic and socio-cultural transformation. In this vigorous changeover, one of the most sensitive and rewarding sectors is undoubtedly the education system, both pre-university and university education. Each year, lawmakers and policy-makers discuss and adopt the contemporary and 21st century methods in order to increase the quality and effectiveness of the educational process, either in the textbooks, didactic tools, curricula, or teaching and learning methods in the auditorium. Over the last decade, it is obvious that e-learning and e-booking are becoming two of the most massive methods in Albanian university circles. Moreover, this article aims to identify some of the methods on using of technology means and their integration in the teaching and learning process in Albanian universities. The study includes four universities - Korça, Tirana, Elbasan and Prishtina University - and the study’s data describe the advantages and disadvantages of technological means in this complex process. The data of this study show that the use of computerized databases, already from any public and institutional sector, facilitate and accelerate the scientific research work to the students of the third year and master level. Online consultation with their scientific mentors also enhances the effectiveness and practicality of their scientific research work. The findings of this study aim to orient the higher education institutions towards effective practices of technological means and the discovery of new, yet unplanned, techniques in our education system.
