Description
Patients with the worrying clinical condition are challenging in the emergency room. Accurate and timely diagnosis is very important in life-threatening conditions. Echocardiography can be very useful in the diagnosis, evaluation and triage of patients with severe cardiovascular conditions in the emergency department. Echocardiography is very useful in patients presenting with: chest pain syndrome, hypotension, unexplained dyspnoea, palpitation, rrecurent syncope, cardiac arrest and chest trauma. It will help in minimizing the unnecessary admission to the hospital and facilitating in hospital evaluation of the admitted patients with echocardiographic information. Transthoracic echocardiography is the main source of information in the emergency setting. This article focuses on the clinical information that can be obtained from echocardiography according to the most frequent presentations suggesting a cardiovascular emergency.
