Assessment of Underground Water Quality for irrigation in the Basin of Blinaja River, Kosovo

Session

Civil Engineering, Infrastructure and Environment

Description

The underground waters comprise an important source for irrigation in the basin of Blinaja river. Being aware of the quality of underground waters which are also used to supply the drinking water system, to water the agricultural lands as well as in industry. The main aim of this paper is to evaluate the quality of underground waters in the basin of Blinaja river, to use it as a source for irrigation of agricultural crops. Due to fact, there have been examined 21 water samples in the respective periods of time during April 2015, January 2016 and February 2018. These samples were taken to analyze the physical and chemical parametres such as; pH, EC, hardness (TH), Ca, Mg, Na, K, HCO 3 , SO 4 , Cl, and NO 3 . The outcomes that derive from the analysis of concentrations are intepreted through different water indexes of drinking water such as Na percentage (%Na), SAR, (sodium absorption ration), PI (permeability index), KR (Kellys radio).
