Self-healing capacity due to different exposure conditions based on Kosovo environment
Session
Civil Engineering, Infrastructure and Environment
Description
Concrete durability lately represent the main focus of the civil engineering and infrastructure. Due to different exposure conditions that concrete should perform, requested by euro codes, Kosovo should do a step forward by preparing its national annexes. As well-known durability of concrete is seriously affected from the presence of cracks, due to very difficult exposition condition in Kosovo, concrete very fast is losing its qualitative properties. This paper will treat innovative aspects of concrete such as self-healing capacity, shrinkage and some other physical and mechanical properties would be tested by changing different components of mix design. Splitting test would be performed in different load capacity, based on reference companion, 20%, 30% and 50% of maximum load capacity will be performed creating cracks which than would be studied in different temperature, relative humidity and exposure condition. Based in actual studies, amount of the crack needed to give the opportunity of healing product to act while the amount of healing capacity of the same mix design depends even on relative humidity and other exposure conditions.
