Civil Engineering, Infrastructure and Environment

Description

Asphalt During the war (1998-1997), the municipality of Gjakova suffered great destruction, especially in terms of construction and infrastructure. Since that time, the demand for new constructions and reconstructions of old residential houses as well as road infrastructure was increasing. The development of the construction and infrastructure sector has also influenced the increase in the number of employees in this sector. Due to the lack of experience in this field, many professional and complex problems have been encountered both in the field of infrastructure and in the field of traffic regulation. The formation of the state of Kosovo (1999-2007), initially consisting of temporary institutions, did not create a substantive legal framework in the field of infrastructure and communication. The increase in the degree of motorization, the needs and demands of the inhabitants are always increasing for a more massive transport, which most of the cities have not followed properly and adequately with the necessary traffic infrastructure and the necessary transport capacities. As a result, they have caused congestion in the traffic situation, which begins to appear as a limiting factor for further development. Alternative solutions to the identified problems must be produced professionally, based on the determination of economic opportunities, existing infrastructure and future criteria. In this research, we will present the existing state of bicycle lanes in the city of Gjakova, following the identification of problems, we will give some conclusions for the functionalization and expansion of the network, with contemporary standards. This study aims to analyze; the current state of the bicycle infrastructure, including the extent of the existing infrastructure, horizontal and vertical signaling, materials, dimensions (length, width, slope, etc.), integration with the surrounding infrastructure, the possibility of expanding the infrastructure network of bicycle paths. To achieve the goal of this research, it was necessary to browse a wide range of literature related to the development of cycling infrastructure.
