Incorporating Hybrid Learning Strategies to Improve Teaching Methods in Higher Education Environments

Session

Education and Development

Description

Blended learning has emerged as a crucial global response to the varied needs of higher education institutions. This innovative approach combines traditional classroom methods with online elements, harnessing the benefits of both face-to-face instruction and digital learning. This study aims to evaluate the extent to which blended learning is integrated into the teaching practices of Higher Education Institutions (HEIs) in Pakistan. Using a multi-methodological approach with an explanatory sequential design, the research focuses on educators from public universities through a comprehensive sampling process. Primary data collection tools, including questionnaires and interviews, reveal a positive attitude among teachers towards the integration of technology in education. Most educators are proficient in various software applications and have strong internet skills. However, the study also points out that universities are still in the early stages of awareness about blended learning implementation. The findings emphasize the need for coordinated efforts to enhance the adoption of blended learning, highlighting the crucial role of universities in providing additional technological infrastructure for smooth course delivery. The research calls for the explicit inclusion of blended learning in universities' strategic plans to ensure thorough and well-defined integration.
