Description

Criminalistic traceology is not only a part of criminalistic technique, but it is also incorporated in tactics and methods. For example, tactical, cognitive, evidential and processing problems of traceology are not the object of the study of criminalistic technique. It means the word is about the multidimensional approach to an issue. Traceology deals with the problems of the mechanisms of representation, classification, search, retrieval, fixation, preservation, search and evaluation of traces. Traceology enables the solution of identification and diagnostic tasks. Traceology is divided into the procedure of searching for traces, providing traces, fixing traces and using them for discovery and proof purposes. Finding traces must have a tactical, technical and methodical character. The specific task of forensic traceology is to study the nature of criminal and legal identification, together with the theory of criminal identification, as a method qualitatively different from those in other sciences and techniques. This paper has a descriptive nature and is presented as a result of analyzing secondary data on traceology, its main functions and concepts. Qualitative research methods were used during the work. The sources of secondary data were local and international texts, publications, articles and reports. The paper contains three chapters and the literature, structured in order to form a theoretical whole which is easy to follow.
