Corporate Governance in Kosovo: Challenges of Legislation and Implementation
Session
Law
Description
Corporate governance in Kosovo is faced with challenges stemming from both a lack of comprehensive legislation and the inadequate implementation of existing laws. This paper explores the current state of corporate governance in Kosovo, highlighting gaps in the legal framework that undermine transparency, accountability, and effective oversight within the corporate sector. Furthermore, it addresses practical issues related to the implementation of corporate governance standards, including misinterpretations of the law by institutions and a general lack of knowledge regarding governance practices tailored to specific industries. The analysis focuses on how these deficiencies affect economic development, investor confidence, and corporate integrity. By examining existing practices and identifying key regulatory and institutional shortcomings, this study aims to provide actionable recommendations for improving legal infrastructure, enhancing institutional understanding, and developing sector-specific expertise to foster a stronger culture of good governance in Kosovo's corporate legal and institutional framework.
