Pharmacogenetics is one of the pillars of Precision Medicine and, increasingly, of Clinical Pharmacology. This presentation will outline some of the basic aspects of the use of pharmacogenetics in practice and discuss the opportunities and challenges of using them in the service of patients. The presentation will illustrate with examples the large-scale use of the pharmacogenetic service in hospital practice and will mention, however briefly, the international experience in this field.
