Description

The consumption of sugar-sweetened beverages and artificial sweeteners is an important health issue, being linked to metabolic and other chronic diseases. This research examines the impact of these substances on consumers' health and their perceptions of the safety of these products. This study aims to assess the impact of sugar and artificial sweetener consumption on health, analyze consumers' perceptions, and examine their awareness of the effects of these substances. Quantitative methodology was used through an online questionnaire distributed on Google Forms, with a total of 57 participants. The data were analyzed using the SPSS program to identify consumption patterns and perceptions of the participants. 93% of the participants were aware of the risks of sugar, but a large proportion continue to consume it regularly. 45.6% consider drinks with artificial sweeteners healthier, while 54.4% do not share this opinion. Only 7% always read nutritional labels before purchasing. 24.6% of participants reported health problems related to the consumption of these beverages. The research shows that although consumers are aware of the health risks of sugar and artificial sweeteners, most continue to consume them due to taste preferences and established habits.
