The Impact of Technology on Modern Communication: From the Era of Email to Mobile Applications and Social Networks

Session

Computer Science and Communication Engineering

Description

This paper explores the impact of technology on modern communication, analyzing the transition from email as the foundational form of digital communication to the widespread use of mobile applications and social media platforms. The study focuses on the benefits, such as speed and global accessibility, but also examines the challenges brought by this rapid development, including the loss of direct human interaction and concerns about privacy. Through theoretical research and a practical survey, the study aims to highlight the need for a balance between technology and traditional human communication. Many believe that inperson conversations have a stronger emotional impact compared to those conducted via phone calls or text messages. Facial expressions and tone of voice play a crucial role in interpreting messages, and their absence can sometimes lead to misunderstandings. This research analyzes the influence of technology on modern communication, from the early use of email to the current dominance of mobile apps and social media in everyday life. Email marked the beginning of structured digital communication, while applications like WhatsApp, Messenger, and Telegram revolutionized speed and accessibility. Social networks created new spaces for visual interaction and information sharing. Although these technologies have enhanced efficiency and brought people closer together, they have also introduced challenges such as device dependency, reduced physical contact, and privacy risks.
