Economic and Organizational Aspects of Digital Transformation in Manufacturing: The Case of Kosovo Production Industry

Session

Mechatronics, System Engineering and Robotics

Description

The main purpose of this paper is to examine the key economic and organizational aspects of digital transformation in the manufacturing sector in Kosovo. The focus of this research is to analyze and discuss the challenges of integrating digital technologies into manufacturing systems and processes. This study is limited to three main technologies: IoT, Artificial Intelligence (AI), and Cloud Computing. The organization of production is treated within a managerial context and is measured with efficiency and effectiveness metrics. Effective productivity is considered an economic aspect that indicates the performance of companies and affects their strategic positioning. Productivity as an indicator is measured by the effective outputs of the production process within a certain period of time. On the other hand, the manufacturing industry in Kosovo is assumed to be challenged by the high costs of implementing digital technologies, insufficiently qualified personnel, and increased cybersecurity risks. In addition, the paper proposes a practical model for implementing digital transformation at optimal cost, proposes the necessary staff skills, and explains the type and manner of deploying robust cybersecurity protocols to ensure optimal data protection. The research approach will combine qualitative case studies with quantitative survey results.
