ArtLeaks – possibilities of struggle for labor rights and emancipation in the art filed

Session

Integrated Design

Description

ArtLeaks platform was founded in 2011. Unlike a dominant trend in contemporary tactical media practices, ArtLeaks is not interventionist and temporary but a concrete strategic tool for exposing conditions and making pressure. Qualities of a tactical struggle within ArtLeaks is the appropriation of the term of the art worker and of the worker's form of organization (J.Roberts, Revolutionary Time and the Avant-Garde) that is the promotion of the strategy on unionization of artists. ArtLeaks thus become a depository for documenting the material conditions of art labor for the past five years, basically since this initiative exists. Out of this depository, several case studies will be analyzed in order to place produced narrative in a particular ideological and political context, connecting it rather with a contemporary group such is W.A.G.E.
