The research project "Pharmacist’s role in the Republic of Kosovo" was realized within the department of drug management of the Institute of Higher Education - UBT, with the students of the pharmacy department. The main purpose of this research is to analyze some of the issues that concern pharmacists, authorities and what is important for patients to have access to qualitative, safe, and efficient medicines. The main objectives of this research project are to analyze the exact role of the pharmacist and how patients can benefit from pharmacist’s expertise. Thus, not only for obtaining adequate medications prescribed by doctors but also for proper information about usage of drugs, interactions and various side effects, various counseling related to therapy in general as well as the communication of the pharmacist, physician and the patient in particular. This research’s primary goal has been the recognition of students with the methodology of scientific research and various methodological aspects, the method of research, qualitative and quantitative methodology, filling out the forms, analyzing the materials, discussing and reaching the conclusions. From this research some of the most important issues can be summed up in the fact that in terms of communication between health professionals and patients, much more work must be done and a concrete strategy for this issue needs to be established since good communication leads to reduction of side effects and minimizing description and dispensing errors.
