Session
Agriculture, Food Science and Technology
Description
Food plays an important role in human especially physical and mental development. In children it plays an important role because their bodies develop very quickly. The aim of this study was to identify and improve school feeding choices through an educational and awareness approach. Such a thing was realized through the survey procedure as the primary stage of obtaining information on the current eating habits of children during their stay at school. Then, to get closer to these children, we have given a lecture, including children, teachers, and parents in discussions about the importance of healthy eating and ways to make more informed choices. During these sessions, children in primary school were encouraged to compile lists of recommended foods and beverages for consumption during school hours. Our results show a small knowledge of children about importance of food, but the desire to cooperate on the part of parents and teachers was very high. Raising awareness and raising awareness of the healthiest food among children is most necessary.
