The production cost of non-specialized and specialized seedlings

Session

Agriculture, Food Science and Technology

Description

Agriculture is considered one of the sectors with great potential in Kosovo, capable of contributing to the country's economic development. The main objective of this study is to illuminate the factors influencing seedling production by farmers in specialized and non-specialized nurseries or through traditional methods of cultivating spiral peppers and pickling cucumbers. Throughout the study, a combination of quantitative and qualitative methods was used to collect, analyze, and interpret data. The research extensively relied on administering questionnaires, conducting interviews, and reviewing relevant documents related to the research inquiries. Appropriate computer software packages, like SPSS and MS Excel, were used to conduct a thorough analysis of the gathered data. The research covers different locations. Additionally, two cultivars, namely cucumber and spiral pepper, were integral components of the survey. The research results revealed significant differences in production costs between pickling cucumbers and chili peppers. The findings also indicated substantial distinctions between pickling cucumbers and chili peppers as specialized crops regarding production cost, seedling production quantity, and land area. Regarding the cost of seedling production, the quantity of seedlings produced, and the land area, the production cost of chili pepper seedlings is lower than that of pickling cucumber seedlings. Additionally, there is no significant correlation between production cost and the number of seedlings produced.
