Comparison of First and Second Trimester Weight Loss in Women and Men After Gastric Sleeve

This study aims to compare the patterns of weight loss during the first and second trimesters after Gastric Sleeve surgery in women and men, examining factors that may influence different outcomes based on gender. The study included 140 patients, 103 women and 37 men, who underwent Gastric Sleeve surgery and maintained a personalized nutritional regimen in the periods of 2023-2024. Patients were monitored for weight loss in the first and second trimesters after surgery. Statistical analyzes were used to compare changes in weight. According to our results, it turned out that the average weight of male patients before the operation was 134.86 kg, after one month the patients lost about 14.108 kg. While in the first trimester, the weight loss in male patients was 29 kg, while in the second trimester, the weight loss was greater, 43,756 kg. While the average weight of female patients before the operation was 110.069kg, while after the first month the weight loss in women was 10.59kg, while in the first trimester the weight loss was greater 23.06kg and after the second trimester the female patients lost weight with an average of 35.029kg. The results obtained from the data analysis show that the Gastric Sleeve operation and maintaining a personalized nutritional regimen has been successful. But male patients during the first and second trimester lost more weight than female patients.
