Evaluation of some physics-chemical parameters of drinking water in a School Institution

Session

Agriculture, Food Science and Technology

Description

The supply of drinking water in the Prizren region still represents a challenge for local and central governments. The water provided by these sources is often unsuitable and unsafe because it is treated with simple sand filters and with a small concentration of chlorination. The purpose of this study is to evaluate the quality and safety of drinking water in a school institution and a total of three samples were taken. Water quality is an important tool to protect public health. The samples were subjected to laboratory analysis evaluating the physics-chemical parameters. And they were analyzed in the water testing laboratory accredited in the regional enterprise "Hidroregioni Jugor". The results are compared with the standards for drinking water according to the National Directive 16/2012, harmonized with the European Directive for drinking water. The results showed that the analysis showed that the water in the sampling site where we took the samples for analysis was within the standard parameters with the exception of oxygen, iron and ammonia.
