Mindfulness & Socio-Emotional Teaching in Our Efl Classrooms
Session
Education and Development
Description
It is in recent years that mindfulness and socio-emotional learning have become an integral part of educational processes due to the serious benefits that both techniques have for students' well-being, behavior, and academic development. It is understood that mindfulness represents a process of paying attention to the present moment with the highest awareness and in a nonjudgmental way. SEL is a teaching approach aimed at enriching students emotionally, increasing social ability, and giving them effective coping with their emotions. Apart from that, in the EFL classroom, students are often faced with a lot of emotional, social, and cognitive complications, which eventually create obstacles in developing their language proficiency. Anxiety, lack of motivation, inability to concentrate, or any kind of problem in communication causes a decline in learning a new language. The research dwells on how the application of mindfulness and SEL strategies can help solve these ordinary problems. Through discussion, it shall provide insights to help EFL educators create supportive and engaging learning environments that support language development and emotional-social growth. This study is very important because it covers emergent needs for strategies that help EFL learners both in developing their academic pursuits and in their emotional lives. It shows in what respect this research can be used to help classrooms become the places where students will develop productively not only in linguistic but also in social-emotional respects, which will lead to more successful learning and personal development.
