Description

Management science offers several managerial concepts that are based on specific standards and contribute to qualitative improvement of business management. Three very prominent concepts are Total Quality Management (TQM), Lean Six Sigma (LSS) and ISO 90001. TQM focuses on customer satisfaction through organizational business management improvement, LSS focuses on reducing defects and improving processes through specific tools and techniques while ISO 9001 operates on internationally agreed standards that enable the construction of a common effective management system. The purpose of the study is to identify and elaborate the differences and similarities of these concepts during application in businesses. The PRISMA guide was applied to conduct a systematic literature review and to explore, identify and describe differences between the three managerial concepts. The study has managed to make comparisons and understand how each of these concepts manage with problem identification, defects, processes, decision-making, customer behavior, continuous improvement, people management, information exchange management. This study contributes to the scientific literature by enlightening the differences and similarities of the three concepts and brings valuable information to management researchers encouraging for deeper studies in this field.
