This research study explores the challenges faced by primary school teachers in teaching reading skills within the Language and Communication curriculum field. The primary objective is to identify these challenges and propose strategies to address them effectively. The study involves a qualitative approach, utilizing semi-structured interviews as the primary data collection method. Thirty primary school teachers will be selected as respondents for the interviews, representing a diverse range of backgrounds, teaching experiences, and school settings.

The interviews will delve into the specific difficulties encountered by teachers when instructing reading skills, considering factors such as student engagement, comprehension difficulties, limited vocabulary, and instructional strategies. Additionally, the study aims to understand how the Language and Communication curriculum framework incorporates reading instruction, identifying any gaps or limitations that may hinder effective teaching practices.

The findings of the study will provide valuable insights into the challenges faced by primary school teachers in teaching reading skills within the Language and Communication curriculum field. The identified difficulties will serve as a foundation for proposing practical strategies and instructional approaches to address these challenges. The research outcomes will contribute to enhancing reading instruction within the curriculum, ultimately supporting students' literacy development and academic achievement. Furthermore, the study aims to generate recommendations for professional development initiatives tailored to primary school teachers, ensuring their preparedness to overcome the identified challenges in teaching reading skills within the Language and Communication curriculum field.
