Description

Adolescence is a critical age, where rapid development takes place accompanied by physical and psychological changes. The aim of this research was to examine the nutritional habits and to understand how much adolescents are informed about the importance of vitamin D, iron, zinc and calcium in their growth and development. The research was conducted by surveying a group of 144 teenagers aged 13 to 19 from the municipalities of Pej and Pristina, of which 83% are girls and 61% are boys who come from primary school, high school and college. The data show regarding breakfast consumption that most children, about 59.7%, eat breakfast, and 26.4% do not eat breakfast regularly. 37.5% of respondents eat lunch, 29.4% eat three meals, and it is worrying that 19.2% of children eat only 2 meals a day. It is promising that 84% of respondents are aware of the importance of Calcium and Vitamin D for bone health and a small number of them do not under-stand the importance of Calcium and Vitamin D for bone health for their age.
