The proliferation of digital technology applications is upending the traditional method that businesses and organizations employ sustainable development policies in their operations. In this context, the goal of this study is to investigate and discuss the impact of digital technology on sustainable development, with a focus on research and innovation in engineering firms. As a result, it is assumed that digital technologies have had a substantial impact on engineering organizations in many ways, particularly in the realm of research and innovation. Furthermore, the main objective of this study is to determine the magnitude of this impact, as well as the obstacles and opportunities presented by digital technology in the context of research and innovation in various organizations, particularly engineering enterprises. The applied research methods are based on trends, literature, case studies, and a survey of local engineering companies.
