Description

Pregnancy is a unique period in a woman's life, marked by various physiological, anatomical, and hormonal changes that can significantly impact oral health. Due to the altered health condition influenced by hormonal levels, there is an anticipated increase in dental plaque formation, leading to dental diseases, particularly periodontal diseases. Currently, Kosovo lacks statistics regarding the knowledge, beliefs, and practices of pregnant women concerning oral care. Drawing from research conducted in other countries, it is expected that key factors influencing oral hygiene practices among pregnant women in Kosovo include economic status, education, and ethnicity. Materials and Methods: This descriptive, quantitative study involves a sample of 88 pregnant women. Data analysis will be conducted using the SPSS program (version 25.0). A structured questionnaire is employed to assess the knowledge, behaviors, and attitudes of pregnant women towards oral health. Results: The anticipated results will reveal the level of knowledge and oral health practices among pregnant women in Pristina, while also investigating the cultural and social factors affecting their oral hygiene.
