Description
Most of the flower beds in public spaces in Kosovo consist of one-year and two-year flowers with beautiful colors, but to be maintained and managed during the summer, they require a lot of commitment. Perennials are plants which live more than two years and are typically cold-hardy plants that will return each year in the spring. The aim of the study was to evaluate the blooming stage and vegetative growth parameters for five Perennial herbaceous plants plants (Rudbeckia fulgida L., Gaillardia aristata L., Astilbe japonica. L, Hosta spp.and Leucanthemumx superbum) in the agroecological conditions of Kosovo. During the 2021–2023 vegetative period, the object of research in our experimental field were five perennial herbaceous plants with 5 cultivars. The experiment was ′Randomized block′ with four replications and 150 plants for each cultivar. Plant seedlings were pro-duced in sun greenhouses and then planted in the ground in April. Perennial herbaceous plants cultivars have demonstrated high decorative value and long period with flowers, good growing, leaves and flowers of different colors (white, red, yellow, pink). Perennial herbaceous plants are more ecologically effective and less expensive to maintain, and are therefore more sustainable. For a good architecture and sustainability of the urban landscape, the studied cultivars should be included in the design and planting structure in Kosovo.
